FAQs

All you need to know about venue hire at the MAC.

Booking

How does the latest government restrictions impact events planned at the MAC?

The MAC is now open to public Wednesday-Sunday 9-4pm.

For our hire customers, we understand that restrictions have impacted you all differently depending on your event. However, we are happy to continue with bookings as long as we both agree it works within the latest government restrictions as noted on nidirect.com. The building is now open 7 days a week for hire bookings.

We all have a part to play in getting NI through the pandemic and in the MAC we want to do all we can to protect public health as well as contributing to the recovery of our communities and the survival of the arts. Get in touch with our events team to talk through your event options.

Tell us about your new room set ups and bookings.

Your room will be set up well in advance of your event and deep cleaned before your visit. You will be asked to vacate your space every two hours to allow the room to ventilate. Toilets will be open and cleaned regularly.

Your space will be set up working to 2m social distancing measures. This means our room capacities have been reduced so talk to our events team about your numbers and we'll find you a suitable space.

All event organisers will be required to complete a health declaration prior to arrival and will be reminded of the symptoms of COVID-19. The organiser must carry out their own risk assessment that meets the requirement of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2000 and take all reasonable measures to limit the risk of transmission of COVID-19.

Our experienced events team will talk you through our COVID-19 health & safety procedures, room set-ups and corporate catering menu options before your visit.

Is corporate catering available?

Your corporate catering will be served within your space. All food will be packaged individually so it is safe and easy for your guests to pick up during their event. It will be served with disposable napkins, cutlery and plates where possible. Check out our corporate menu here.

What happens if an event is to be cancelled due to COVID-19?

Legally you are entitled to a refund if your event must be cancelled due to government public health measures that mean your event is not allowed to proceed. The MAC will be following government advice on the refund and cancellation of events due to COVID-19. For latest info please visit: https://www.nidirect.gov.uk

Arrival

Which entrance should event organisers & guests use?

From 10am onwards all organisers and guests should enter via the door at Exchange Street West. If your event kicks off before 10am, organisers and guests are asked to make their way to the door at St Anne's Square where they will be met by a MAC Team Leader.

Where do we go when we arrive?

On arrival, please enter via the door from Exchange Street West or St Anne's Square as advised by your event booker. You will be met by a MAC Team Leader.

Organisers are asked to arrive 30 minutes before their event starts and a member of the MAC’s events team will show you to your space. They will also run through our new MAC house rules.

Guests are asked to arrive 15 minutes before the event starts and will be directed to the event waiting area until everyone arrives. Guests will then be shown to the space by the MAC events team. There will also be clear signage directing your guests to the event.

What should I do if I/a guest feel unwell before an event?

If you, or any of your guests display symptoms associated with COVID-19, please follow government guidelines and delay your visit until it is safe for you to do so. If organisers have any concerns about this please contact [email protected].
