We know how tricky it can be to plan a meeting or event at this time but rest assured our experienced events team will keep you right.
Some things are different to how they were before; but others, such as the quality of our welcome, are just the same. We’ve been working hard behind the scenes and making some changes to how we do things. We are a COVID-19 Secure venue with carefully planned social distancing and safety measures in place – keep scrolling for all the details.
The MAC has been awarded the ‘We’re Good to Go’ industry-standard mark, certifying that we are adhering to the respective Government and public health guidance, have carried out a COVID-19 risk assessment and have the required processes in place to welcome you back.
All you need to know about venue hire at the MAC.
In line with the spirit of yesterday’s public health update and associated restrictions announced by the NI Executive, the MAC has decided to close to the public from this Friday 16 Oct at 4pm for an initial period of four weeks.
For our hire customers, we understand that restrictions have impacted you all differently depending on your event. However, we are happy to continue with bookings as long as we both agree it works within the latest government restrictions as noted on nidirect.com. The building will be open Monday-Friday only for hired activity with the building closing on Saturday and Sunday until our planned reopening on Saturday 14 November.
From the 14th, we're planning to reopen our galleries and café (for takeaway only) 10am-4pm, with a new exhibition across all three galleries - Peter Liversidge, In a Rainbow of Coalitions and Frederic Huska. The work is wonderful and we think the exhibitions will lift all our spirits. As it currently stands, from this date we plan to return to Wednesday-Sunday 10am-4pm arrangements.
We all have a part to play in getting NI through the pandemic and in the MAC we want to do all we can to protect public health as well as contributing to the recovery of our communities and the survival of the arts. Get in touch with our events team to talk through your event options.
Your room will be set up well in advance of your event and deep cleaned before your visit. Current government guidelines request that events must be capped at 15 people and spaces must be vacated every 2 hours for ventilation. Toilets will be open and cleaned regularly.
Your space will be set up working to 2m social distancing measures. This means our room capacities have been reduced so talk to our events team about your numbers and we'll find you a suitable space.
All event organisers will be required to complete a health questionnaire prior to arrival and will be reminded of the symptoms of COVID-19. The organiser must carry out their own risk assessment that meets the requirement of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2000 and take all reasonable measures to limit the risk of transmission of COVID-19.
Our experienced events team will talk you through our COVID-19 health & safety procedures, room set-ups and corporate catering menu options before your visit.
Your corporate catering will be served within your space. All food will be packaged individually so it is safe and easy for your guests to pick up during their event. It will be served with disposable napkins, cutlery and plates where possible. Check out our corporate menu here.
Legally you are entitled to a refund if your event must be cancelled due to government public health measures that mean your event is not allowed to proceed. The MAC will be following government advice on the refund and cancellation of events due to COVID-19. For latest info please visit: https://www.nidirect.gov.uk
From 10am onwards all organisers and guests should enter via the door at Exchange Street West. If your event kicks off before 10am, organisers and guests are asked to make their way to the door at St Anne's Square where they will be met by a MAC Team Leader.
On arrival, please enter via the door from Exchange Street West or St Anne's Square as advised by your event booker. You will be met by a MAC Team Leader.
Organisers are asked to arrive 30 minutes before their event starts and a member of the MAC’s events team will show you to your space. They will also run through our new MAC house rules.
Guests are asked to arrive 15 minutes before the event starts and will be directed to the event waiting area until everyone arrives. Guests will then be shown to the space by the MAC events team. There will also be clear signage directing your guests to the event.
If you, or any of your guests display symptoms associated with COVID-19, please follow government guidelines and delay your visit until it is safe for you to do so. If organisers have any concerns about this please contact [email protected].
We’re excited to welcome you and your guests back to your MAC. It’s the same MAC, we’ve just a few new rules in place to ensure your safety:
The safety of our visitors and staff is our top priority during the COVID-19 pandemic and we are committed to following all advice and guidelines provided by the government. We have also listened to what our customers want and need from their new MAC experience through ongoing surveys and we have implemented a number of changes:
We have created a dedicated section on our website called ‘Keeping You Safe’ which you can access from our homepage or by clicking ‘Your Visit’. This new webpage will tell you all you need to know about how to keep safe during your visit to the MAC and show you what steps we’re taking text, illustration and video information.
You can also read our Health and Safety Policy here.
For the safety of yourself and others, we recommend that you wear a face covering on your visit, however we are aware that some visitors may be unable to do so for personal reasons.
Our team will also wear face coverings for your safety and reassurance.
On arrival, you will be required to use the hand sanitisation station provided. There will be further sanitisation stations throughout the building and our toilets will be open if you wish to wash your hands with soap and water. We also recommend that you sanitise your hands before eating or drinking.
The MAC supports the NHS Test and Trace service in response to COVID-19. It is important that the event organiser holds personal details and contact numbers for their attendees so that they can be passed on to the NHS if it is requested, to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
We are a COVID-19 Secure venue and have been awarded the ‘We’re Good to Go’ industry standard mark, certifying that we are adhering to the respective Government and public health guidance, have carried out a COVID-19 risk assessment and have the required processes in place to welcome you back.
